A book can take us places and help us see ourselves able to  do things we never did before! Reading with a child can bring us closer by discovering things you both like!

Imagine playing with a tropical bird? How about seeing a sloth perfectly balanced on a branch while it sleeps? Or seeing a bird you never heard of before?

Pick a book (or story) based on where you would love to go.  You just never know when you might get there.  We all need some downtime to keep us moving forward!

Halina Schafer made a decision to retire at the end of 2013. That was the year her first great-niece was born. Her plan was to build a scrapbook of events to give to the family on the baby's first birthday. When she did the following summer, it was the family who encouraged her to "do something more with this story." Halina  had already changed careers from a Technician in Medical Pathology laboratories to become a Therapist/Administrator of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Clinics and, finally, to published Author in November of 2017.

The first book, "Fiona and the Extra Special Invisible Gifts" for ages birth through pre-school led to forming her own self-publishing company, Third-Career Press, LLC. Her second book, "Who Found Who" (an easy-reader chapter book for ages 4-9) practically wrote itself and was published in November of 2018. Halina has a third book out (2020) for "tweens" to assist with emotional resgulation: "You Can't Make Me"        "So much for retirement!"

Reviews

Such a unique and beautiful book, so wonderfully written, so happy to have it as a part of our growing collection.

I am writing this for Talia, my granddaughter. She said she loves this book about the parrot. When I showed her the picture with him on your shoulder, she said, "It's great!" She said she loves you for writing this book!

Excellent book! It's not only for children it's for adults too. It's a great family book to have!!! Thanks a lot
